Belgrade airport:

If you are considering visiting Serbia and arrive by air, you will probably land at Nikola Tesla Belgrade airport. It is home of Serbian flag carrier, Air Serbia (formerly known as Jat Airways). Air Serbia is also the successor of the first Serbian flag carrier, Aeroput, established in 1927.

The airport has 2 interconnected commercial terminals. It has two runways and a main parallel taxiway - expect a short taxi route after landing. However, as Serbia is not an EU member, expect additional security and passport control checks while passing through the airport.

The main operators in Belgrade are: Air Serbia, Marathon Airlines , Fly Dubai, Turkish Airlines, Austrian, Qatar and Wizz Air. It is clear that despite its small size, the airport continues to expand its global connections.

Air Serbia offers up to 70 destinations, including intercontinental flights. In their inflight magazine it is advertised that, in 2023, the flag carrier proudly carried 4 million travelers, one of the highest numbers over its 97 years of history.

If you are travelling with Air Serbia and you have sufficient miles in your Etihad guest member account, you might be eligible to access their premium lounge inside the terminal, between A4 and A5 gates - a nice place to visit and chill out before your journey! 😊🌞

At the airport, there are several restaurants, cafes kiosks, duty-free shops, and pharmacies. If you feel like taking a nap or recharging your electronic devices, there are many relaxation zones with sofas and reclining seats 💺 near the long haul gates so don’t forget to check them out !

City life :

Belgrade is a city full of contrast, in continuous reconstruction and progress. One of its symbols, the sparrow, reflects perfectly the authenticity of the city 🏙: mysterious and full of surprises, it will show itself as friendly and graceful while revealing its secrets 🤫.

One of Belgrade’s landmark is the monument of victory from Belgrade fortress, overseeing the confluence of 2 rivers. (Danube and Sava)

If you are passionate about history, consider checking some of their local museums such as : Nikola Tesla ,national, ethnographic, or contemporary art.

What you will quickly remark while immersing yourself in the city is its original architecture - this is due to the fact that it experienced not less than 115 wars. The New and old Belgrade combine together in an attempt to show to its visitors a piece of their complex history.

Food 🥘:

Serbian food is delicious ! Don’t hesitate to taste a traditional baklavas, cheese or meat burek, perfect for breakfast or brunch :).

If you are a wine lover, you will be delighted to hear that Belgrade has many wine bars, deli markets and shops you can visit.

Conclusion:

I really enjoyed my short visit in Belgrade - I would really recommend this city to people who want to discover a hidden gem, with warm and welcoming people, nice historical buildings and extraordinary food...
